One and Only One!

10 Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant. – Gal. 1:10 NLT

Paul tells us that if pleasing others, whether they be family, friends, neighbors or society at large, is more important than pleasing God, then we are not bond servants of Jesus Christ. Jesus is not happy with being number one in a race with some idols of our making.. He wants to be the one and only one in contention for our affections. This is the Gospel that was revealed to Paul by God. When we really get hold of this message, we understand that repentance is more than turning from an old way of life, it is turning to a new way of living. Old things have passed away and all things have become new.
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.—2 Cor. 5:17 (NASB)
No matter how intelligent we are or what strata of society we come from, we must see ourselves and our righteousness as filthy rags before God. Nothing we have can save us and no one else can repent for us, we have to do it for ourselves.

One in the Son

Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.
Romans 12:4-5 NLT

It takes every Christian doing the job God has called us to do for the body to function as it should. God designed the church to be a showcase of His love for the lost. What does the world see when it looks at us? Does it see a functioning, joy-filled body or a dysfunctional organism? Let us pray that each of us would be building up the rest of the body instead of fault-finding. Peace and joy draw others to Christ, Let others see the joy you have found in serving a risen Savior. We should practice using our gifts year round, not just a few weeks of each year. Could you imagine what the world would be like if God limited His peace and security to one month each year?

What A Friend

20 “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. — John 17:20 NLT

John 17:20-26 NLT

What an encouraging thought it is to know that almost two thousand years ago, our Lord and Savior,  Jesus Christ was praying for us.  He prayed for us then and even now, He is at the right hand of the Father interceding for us.  He is still praying the same prayer.   He wants us to  “all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you.”   Not only is Jesus interceding on our behalf, but the Holy Spirit is praying for us.  When we reach that point in prayer where words can’t express what we feel in our hearts, the Holy Spirit prays for us with “groanings that cannot be expressed”.

Romans 8:26-28 NLT

God, our Father, is waiting to hear from us and to answer us, knowing our weakness, He planned for His Son and HIs Spirit to do for us what we could not do for ourselves.   The Triune God, the Trinity, works as One to be sure that our prayers are heard and answered.  There is no Friend so faithful in assuring that His plans for each of us will be successful.  He plans our lives, He prays for our lives and He always completes His plan. He causes everything to work together.

Why do we doubt and worry?  Repent and rejoice!
