3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” 4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!” 5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.—John 3:3-6 NIV
As I was contemplating yesterday’s thoughts on miracles, it occurred to me that we see miracles every day. There is the miracle of our fleshly birth that man, with all his wisdom, has not been able to duplicate without borrowing something that God had already made. And then there is the miracle of our second birth — being born in the Spirit. What a truly remarkable, miraculous event when God places His Holy Spirit inside us and He accomplishes this without pain or surgery of any sort. He makes all things new!!
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!—2 Cor. 5:17 NIV
Imagine that! God can take the worst of us and in an instant set us on a path that changes us into something new and wonderful in His eyes. God doesn’t see us as sinners anymore! He sees us only through the blood of Jesus, His perfect Son. What an amazing, miraculous God! He is worthy to be praised!
1 Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. —Psalm 103:1 NIV
