10 Who among you fears the Lord and obeys his servant?
If you are walking in darkness, without a ray of light,
trust in the Lord and rely on your God.
11 But watch out, you who live in your own light
and warm yourselves by your own fires.
This is the reward you will receive from me:
You will soon fall down in great torment.—Isaiah 50:10, 11 (NLT)
Our lifestyles and daily walk should let those around us know that we are striving to be obedient to God. We live by His standards, not the standards of society. Those who have set their own standards and think that living up to them is good enough are in for a huge surprise. None of us are good enough to earn our way to heaven. Salvation was paid for at the cross by Jesus. We cannot earn it, it is a free gift. Anyone who thinks there is more than one way to get to heaven needs to re-read John 14:6. 6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
The way is singular. If you try any other way (walk in your own light), you will end up in “great torment”.
