15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. 18 Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, 19 singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. 20 And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.–Ephesians 5:15-20 (NLT)
God sent His Holy Spirit to indwell us and lead us into all truth. When we study God’s Word, meditate and allow His Spirit to guide us, we can be assured that our lives will be filled with wisdom and power. Our attitude will be to put Jesus first, others second and ourselves last. This will cause us to be considerate of others and filled with the joy of the Lord. When Jesus becomes our focus, we don’t need worldly distractions to bring us happiness. Our hearts should be filled with music and joy causing us to always be thankful for what God has given us. This joy in our hearts will overflow in our lives and will draw others to Jesus Christ, giving God the glory, which is our primary purpose in life.
