Light or Darkness???

God is waiting to show you the way.

God is waiting to show you the way.

1 John 2:7-11 (NLT) 7 Dear friends, I am not writing a new commandment for you; rather it is an old one you have had from the very beginning. This old commandment—to love one another—is the same message you heard before. 8 Yet it is also new. Jesus lived the truth of this commandment, and you also are living it. For the darkness is disappearing, and the true light is already shining. 9 If anyone claims, “I am living in the light,” but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is still living in darkness. 10 Anyone who loves another brother or sister is living in the light and does not cause others to stumble. 11 But anyone who hates another brother or sister is still living and walking in darkness. Such a person does not know the way to go, having been blinded by the darkness.
It is so easy for us to say the words, “I love…..”. The question is this: Can we back that statement up with actions? John tells us that Jesus lived the truth of this commandment. We are told in the Gospels that Jesus went about doing good. If we look back on our life for just today, would it be possible for someone to make that statement about us? If someone had spent the day with you would they be able to say about you what the council said about Peter and John in Acts 4:12,13 (NLT) 12 There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.” 13 The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.
Do we love enough and live enough like Jesus that people would notice it? The Light has come, walk in that Light and let the love of Jesus shine through you.

God Knows All About It.

God is waiting to show you the way.

God is waiting to show you the way.

Rev 3:15 (NLT) “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! 16 But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth! 17 You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked. 18 So I advise you to buy gold from me—gold that has been purified by fire. Then you will be rich. Also buy white garments from me so you will not be shamed by your nakedness, and ointment for your eyes so you will be able to see. 19 I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference.
God wants each of us to be totally committed to Him. Our lifestyles should reflect that commitment. We have to look inside ourselves and allow God’s Holy Spirit to show us where the problem lies. What is keeping us from being totally committed to Jesus? Are temporary physical pleasures more important than eternal life in heaven? Eternal life with Jesus is a free gift, so earning more money is not going to get you there. The only true peace and contentment we have is in Jesus. He knows our hearts and He knows the solution to not only the sins we try to hide, but to any situation we are facing. He is waiting to share that information with You. Stop! Listen! If you do, He will speak to You.

Protected by His Power

God is waiting to show you the way.

God is waiting to show you the way.

1 Peter 1:5-7 (NLT) 5 And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. 6 So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. 7 These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
Once, we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior and our Lord, we are under the shelter of His wings. It is God’s power that keeps us in His hand. No matter how many times we fail and we all do fail, we are kept securely by His Spirit. God knows exactly where we are in our walk with Him. He allows us to be tested so that we know where we are. As Paul shared with us, we miss the mark but we press on toward the High Calling in Christ Jesus. In our weakest moments, God is with us and it is during these times that we are most likely to allow Him to mold us into His image. Just remember that nothing, absolutely nothing, in heaven or on earth can ever separate you from the love of God. We may fail God, but He cannot fail us. All of His promises are Yes and Amen! So praise God with hearts full of joy that no one can take you from Him or His joy from you!

Religion or Relationship?

God is waiting to show you the way.

God is waiting to show you the way.

Romans 5:10,11 (NLT) 10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. 11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.
There is only One Creator who would create a creature knowing that it would require His death to redeem that creation. What kind of Creator has that much love for His creation? God, and God alone, because He alone is complete, pure love. God, as the man Jesus did not die for some bogus religion of the world. He died to renew the relationship that He had with man in the Garden of Eden. We call that relationship, Christianity. There is no comparison of Christianity to any religion in the world. Christianity is eternal because it is based on Jesus Christ, who died and was resurrected for our sins. He knew from before the foundations of the earth that He would have to do that. Sin took away that relationship and introduced all kinds of false hopes, which the world calls “religions”. All those religions are named after and founded on the teachings of dead men. But, praise God, Christianity is named after and based on the teachings of a LIVING GOD and SAVIOR! One who longs to talk to You and show You His love in the tiniest details of Your Life.
If, up until now, you have only experienced “religion”, it is time for you to get into a “relationship” with the One and Only Living God and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is standing at your heart’s door and knocking. Open up to the most beautiful and meaningful relationship you will ever know.

God Always Brings Us Through

God is waiting to show you the way.

God is waiting to show you the way.

Psalm 91:14-16 (NIV)14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

When we remain faithful and obedient to God, He is our rescuer. When we call upon His Name, He comes to us wherever we are and protects. He delivers us from all our troubles. Sometimes, in our flesh, we don’t understand why He allows us to go through those troubles, but we must always remember that He knows what is best for our maturing process. Just as He did with Joseph, He can bring good out of what we consider to be evil and accomplish His purpose for our lives and His plan for eternity. Trust Him to show You His salvation in His timing.

Getting to Know Jesus

God is waiting to show you the way.

God is waiting to show you the way.

1 Peter 1:2-8 (Voice) 2 I wish you a full measure of grace and peace as you grow in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 3 His divine power has given us everything we need to experience life and to reflect God’s true nature through the knowledge of the One who called us by His glory and virtue. 4 Through these things, we have received God’s great and valuable promises, so we might escape the corruption of worldly desires and share in the divine nature. 5 To achieve this, you will need to add virtue to your faith, and then knowledge to your virtue; 6 to knowledge, add discipline; to discipline, add endurance; to endurance, add godliness; 7 to godliness, add affection for others as sisters and brothers; and to affection, at last, add love. 8 For if you possess these traits and multiply them, then you will never be ineffective or unproductive in your relationship with our Lord Jesus the Anointed;
Today, we will continue on yesterday’s theme of allowing God to work through us. You have heard the story many times of couples that live together for years. As time passes, they take on each other’s attitudes and characteristics. They even get to the point that they can finish each other’s sentences. As we spend time with our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, we do the same thing. We start to take on His characteristics of grace, godliness, affection, and His love for others. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to finish God’s sentences? We may never get to that point, but we can become more like Him every day, if we will just commit to spending time with Him and meditating on His Word. After You have talked to Him, allow plenty of time for Him to talk to You. He has a lot to tell you and He has an unending stream of love that He wants to lavish on you. Be still, wait on Him to speak, and really, really listen. When just knowing about Him isn’t enough and you get to the point of wanting to know HIM, your attitude toward others and your outlook on life will begin to change for the better.

Save Yourself!!!????

God is waiting to show you the way.

God is waiting to show you the way.

Isaiah 50: 10, 11 (NLT) 10 Who among you fears the Lord and obeys his servant?
If you are walking in darkness, without a ray of light,
trust in the Lord and rely on your God.
11 But watch out, you who live in your own light and warm yourselves by your own fires.
This is the reward you will receive from me: You will soon fall down in great torment.

If you have ever tried self-help programs, you know how frustrating that can be. You know when we say things like “I am going to do better”, “I am going to lose weight”, “I am going to quit smoking”, “I am going to quit watching pornography”, “I am going to become a better person”, “I am, I am……” And we try, we try really hard. And we try again, but those desires are still there.
As we are told in James 3:2 (NLT) 2. Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.
BUT WE CAN’T
Our fleshly desires always win out until we admit that we can’t and only God can do it for us. The problem is the heart and only God can change that. Jesus came to set the captive free, ask Him and He will do that for you right now.

Hungry and Thirsty?

God is waiting to show you the way.

God is waiting to show you the way.

Psalm 63:1-4 (God’s Word Translation)
O God, you are my God.
At dawn I search for you.
My soul thirsts for you.
My body longs for you
in a dry, parched land where there is no water.
2 So I look for you in the holy place
to see your power and your glory.
3 My lips will praise you
because your mercy is better than life itself.
4 So I will thank you as long as I live.
I will lift up my hands to pray in your name
.
We all have had those days when it seemed that nothing we did would satisfy us. All day long, we wanted something. Food and drink did not satisfy us. All of our activity left us empty and drained. Kind words from family, friends and co-workers just didn’t hit the spot. All day, it was just that feeling that something is missing. As the Psalmist said, “O, my soul, why are you disquieted within me?” All of the usual forms of recreation and relaxation just left us feeling less satisfied.
Then we hear that small, still voice saying, “Come unto me”. Drink from the well that never runs dry. Wade into the fountain that flows from the throne of God and be satisfied. Focus on the throne and as you focus on Jesus, your mind starts to settle peacefully and you can feel all your tensions disappear as Jesus holds you and you are filled with His peace.
Spend time with Jesus and meditate on His Word. Your Spirit desires it more than anything this world can offer.

Take Up Your Cross

God is waiting to show you the way.

God is waiting to show you the way.

John 3:16,17 (The Voice) 16 For God expressed His love for the world in this way: He gave His only Son so that whoever believes in Him will not face everlasting destruction, but will have everlasting life. 17 Here’s the point. God didn’t send His Son into the world to judge it; instead, He is here to rescue a world headed toward certain destruction.
God made it easy and simple to accept His free gift of salvation. Even a child can understand it and be saved. Just believing John 3:16 will get you to heaven. We like that part!
But living a Holy life requires a bit more commitment to Jesus.
Luke 9:23-25 (The Voice) 23 If any of you want to walk My path, you’re going to have to deny yourself. You’ll have to take up your cross every day and follow Me. 24 If you try to avoid danger and risk, then you’ll lose everything. If you let go of your life and risk all for My sake, then your life will be rescued, healed, made whole and full. 25 Listen, what good does it do you if you gain everything—if the whole world is in your pocket—but then your own life slips through your fingers and is lost to you?
You can start enjoying your walk with God right now. He isn’t asking you to do this by yourself. He is asking you to join Him in His work. You will find that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. compared to the time and effort you have spent serving satan, serving Jesus will be easy. You have had to earn your wages with satan (the wages of sin are death) but every good gift that God gives you is free. You don’t work to earn His favor, you join in His work because you love Him.

Trust, Forgive, Believe, Ask

God is waiting to show you the way.

God is waiting to show you the way.

Mark 11:22-26 (Voice) Jesus: 22 Trust in God. 23 If you do, honestly, you can say to this mountain, “Mountain, uproot yourself and throw yourself into the sea.” If you don’t doubt, but trust that what you say will take place, then it will happen. 24 So listen to what I’m saying: Whatever you pray for or ask from God, believe that you’ll receive it and you will. 25 When you pray, if you remember anyone who has wronged you, forgive him so that God above can also forgive you. [26 If you don’t forgive others, don’t expect God’s forgiveness.]
Before you ask God to do something for you, ask yourself these 3 questions:
1. Have I forgiven all of those people whom I feel have wronged me?
2. Do I trust God to do what He says He will do?
3. Do I truly believe that God would do this for me?
When I was doing inside sales at a flooring company, we were taught to ask customers 3 questions that we felt we could get them to answer with a “yes”. If they gave you 3 yeses in a row, then you were much more likely to get a sale, because you had put them in a positive frame of mind to accept your suggestions.
Give God a yes to all 3 questions above and He will certainly be ready to give you what you ask from Him. If you can’t give Him 3 yeses, then take the test over until you score 100%. God doesn’t negotiate with unbelievers and a “no” to any of these questions says that you are harboring some unbelief in your thinking.
I would add a 4th question to these: Does your request line up with God’s Word? Just as I would assume that anyone that came into a flooring store was searching for some kind of flooring, I would assume that you had already answered this question with a “yes” if you are asking God to do it for you.
