Psalm 27:7,8, 14 (NLT) 7 Hear me as I pray, O Lord. Be merciful and answer me!
8 My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.”
And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
14 Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous.
Yes, wait patiently for the Lord
As Christians, we are bond servants of the Lord Jesus Christ. We serve Him because we love Him. Our prayers should not be a “to do” list for God. Good morning, God, here is what I need for You to do for me today. Got it? Good, I will talk to You again soon, maybe tomorrow. That is not prayer, my friend, that is what you might say to your employees, but not to God. Is He interested in your tiniest need? Yes, He is, but He is also the King of Kings. He deserves our respect. As this verse from Psalms says: “Come and talk with me”, not to me. After you have talked, be silent and let God speak to you. He already knows your needs and He already knows His answer. He doesn’t need to think about it overnight. Just rest in His arms for a few minutes and God’s Holy Spirit will not only give you the answer but will help you understand the answer.

God speaks to me when I least expect it. It comes out of nowhere. I know it is God speaking because His words are so perfect that I know my finite mind could never come up with something like that. Thank you Dad for sharing this devotion with me and the world! Love you!

Wally, I haven’t figured out why we have to ‘learn’ how to talk with God our Father — but it seems it takes awhile to do so. It’s hard for me to do this — but I would like to say, Oh, Daddy, this was a fun day You took me thru today! The time with new friends singing songs about You, praising Your name, sharing how we look forward to seeing You soon, then having lunch with family and just hanging out for the afternoon — it was a good time, wasn’t it! You seem to know just how to put my days together –and I’m so glad. And the best part is seeing my children being more comfortable to talk to You too — to see them sharing with others — that’s what it’s all about. Daddy, I need to be close to You this week — I feel a need to read more of Your words to me — to just be quiet with You. Even though You are so complex and holy, I ask You to speak to me simply — but also in a way that no one else can. You see our big picture — You alone know what we lack in our relationship — so open my eyes and ears and heart — I want to hear You. I love You, Daddy!
